Happy Hooksters was born from Kari’s mind in 2015. Kari has been crocheting since she was 10 and had done multiple big and little projects since that age. While she would frequently take months or years off from crocheting, she always made her way back. She became particularly interested in it in 2015 after 2 years of struggling to have a child and she needed an outlet for her mind. Eventually her husband couldn’t handle “just one more” blanket in their house, so she decided to start an Etsy page to sell her crocheted wares. 

After a few years of doing the Etsy thing (and still not having a child), Kari convinced her sister Jamie to join her in this venture. At the time Jamie lived in Iowa, and the chaos of trying to run a business from 2 different states ensued. Happy Hooksters was officially born, as we are two “happy hooking sisters”! Jamie brings to the table her amazing talents of crocheted shawls, towels and more. 

In 2019 Kari finally had her rainbow baby. Just after her daughter was born, she bought a Cricut to make “all the things” for her. This started a rabbit hole of evolving projects, which now include sublimated “sassy” towels, DTF apparel, stickers, magnets….and whatever else they take joy in making! In 2021 Jamie finally moved to Madison, WI and lives only 4 minutes away from Kari. Happy Hooksters became an LLC in April 2023 and the excitement for our business only continues to grow.
